The title in the cartouche upper right translates as Shogun Taro Yoshikado, son of Taira no Masakado, gathers his allies at an old temple. In April of the third year of Eien he advances to Settsu Province and fights the Kyoto army.
According to legend, the children of the slain warrior Taira no Masakado, Yoshikado and Princess Takiyasha vowed to avenge his death, enlisting the aid of magic to accomplish their goal. They had been learning magic from the elderly samurai Iga Jutaro.
