Juroku Musashi was a board game which was popular during the Edo period (1603 - 1868). It was played on a board with 16 pieces. Kunisada incorporates a view from the top of the board into the design, forming part of the background of each print in this series. In the foreground a woman dressed in kimono of elaborately dyed fabrics, points to a bird in flight over a boat within a circular cartouche.
